A rising star of the neo-classical scene, Hania Rani has always been fascinated by keyboards and synthesisers. With Le Passage du Temps, her first-ever composition for organ, receiving its world première in La Chaux-de-Fonds, this is a shift in both scale and era for her. The Kuhn organ in the Salle de Musique becomes a meeting point between memory and invention, past and future. A historic instrument with which to explore the strange concept of time: the time we measure, the time that passes, and the time that music so effortlessly knows how to suspend.

Hania Rani is one of the most distinctive figures on the contemporary music scene. An award-winning composer, pianist and singer, trained in Warsaw and Berlin and now based in London, she has spent more than a decade developing a body of work that defies categorisation, moving between solo piano, contemporary classical music, electronic, ambient and experimental pop. She also composes for film, winning a European Film Award for Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value.
